Notice to All Members: Antitrust and Equal Housing Opportunity Policies
NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS
It is the long established policy of this association, the Oregon Association of Realtors® and the National Association of Realtors® to adhere to both the letter and spirit of the federal and state antitrust laws.
For their own protection, members should be aware of the antitrust laws as they affect their specific business activities. Any illegal activity under the state and federal antitrust laws is not in compliance with association policy nor is it in the interests of the association or its members.
Participation in association activities must only occur in harmony with these very important laws to assure the association will not be used for any improper purpose that would endanger the association or its members, please take note of the following:
Discussion of price, commission rates, commission splits, market allocation, etc. is inappropriate at membership meetings. These discussions should not occur either in a formal or an informal meeting. Discussions of fellow competitors at any membership meeting is inappropriate and will be ruled out of order. Discussions of refusing to deal with any member is inappropriate and will be ruled out of order.
Equal housing opportunity:
Federal law prohibits discrimination based on, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, familial status and disability in connection with the sale or rental of residential real estate, in advertising the sale or rental of housing, in the financing of housing, and in the provision of real estate brokerage services. In addition, the state of Oregon prohibits discrimination based on marital status and source of income, and several local jurisdictions prohibit discrimination based on age, gender identity and sexual orientation.
