Committee Volunteer Opportunities

Most volunteers begin their involvement by joining a committee. The following PMAR Committees are seeking additional members (limited space may be available).

Realtor® Advocacy Committee (GAC)

You don’t have to be a policy wonk to join. You just have to care about your community and your business. Issues tackled include regional and local growth, proposed regulations affecting your business, taxes and fees, open house signage, and more.

Purpose: You don’t have to be a policy wonk to join. You just have to care about your community and your business. Issues tackled include regional and local growth, proposed regulations affecting your business, taxes and fees, open house signage, and more.

Meetings: Committee meetings are held quarterly from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the PMAR office.

Membership Requirements: Meetings are open to all PMAR members.

Homeownership Opportunities Committee (HOC)

Increase awareness of homeownership opportunities; support awareness and compliance with fair housing laws while promoting diversity in the real estate industry; provide useful education to members; and continue efforts to reduce the gap in homeownership, including minority homeownership.

Purpose: To increase member and public awareness of homeownership opportunities; maintain and support members’ awareness and compliance with fair housing laws while promoting diversity in the real estate industry; provide useful education and other resources to Realtor® members, to benefit clients and expand access to homeownership; and continue efforts to reduce the gap in homeownership, including minority homeownership.

The Masters Circle (formerly known as the Million Dollar Club) Leadership Team serves as the governing body of the organization. As such, they plan educational membership luncheons, oversee the administration, and continually strive to meets members’ needs. The President, President Elect, three Vice Presidents, and three Directors at Large are elected by the Masters Circle members annually.

After volunteering on a committee, many members decide to move to the next level: an elected position. PMAR’s Board of Directors is made up of 21 members: the Executive Committee, which consists of the President, President Elect, four Vice Presidents, and the Immediate Past President; and fourteen Local Directors.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

2016 Chairman: Cheryle Clunes, Summa Real Estate Executives

Purpose: To conduct arbitration and ethics hearings as needed, following procedures outlined in the Professional Standards Manual of NAR; to encourage members to conduct their business with the highest professional and ethical standards in accordance with the Realtor® Code of Ethics.

GRIEVANCE

2016 Chairman: Grievance Committee: Stacey Finnerty, Realty Trust Group, Inc.

Purpose: Give initial consideration to allegations of unethical conduct or requests for arbitration, and determine whether a matter is properly the subject for a hearing.


Meetings: Committee meetings are held at least five times a year. Times and dates vary. E-mail Susan Schneider for more details.

Membership Requirements: Members must have at least three years of real estate experience. Mandatory training is held the beginning of every year.

Promote a positive image of the real estate profession and value of Realtors® to the public, and promote PMAR’s value proposition to the membership.

Purpose: To promote a positive image of the real estate profession and value of Realtors® to the public and to promote PMAR’s value proposition to the membership.

Meetings: Committee meetings are held quarterly, although meetings may be scheduled more often depending upon committee activity. Times and dates vary. Members will be asked to review and edit materials and articles via e-mail. E-mail Michele Holen for more details.
